BioVector? RPMI-8866 is a human B lymphoblastoid cell line derived from peripheral blood and transformed by endogenous Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV). Originally established in the 1960s (from a patient with chronic myelogenous leukemia), it has since become a standard model in immunology due to its mature B-cell characteristics. RPMI-8866 cells constitutively express various surface markers, including CD23 and MHC class II molecules, making them an ideal tool for studying B-cell activation, antigen presentation, immunoglobulin synthesis, and cytokine regulation.
