BioVector? HASTR/ci35 is an immortalized human astrocyte cell line derived from fetal brain tissue. The line was established via transduction of the temperature-sensitive SV40 large T-antigen (tsA58) and human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT). Its defining feature is "conditional immortalization": cells proliferate continuously at 33°C, while at 37°-39°C, they cease division and exhibit a more mature, differentiated astrocyte phenotype. It is a premier tool for studying neuroinflammation, blood-brain barrier (BBB) dynamics, and astrocyte function in neurodegenerative diseases.
