NTCC? N/TERT-1 cell line is an immortalized human keratinocyte cell line widely used in dermatology and skin biology research as a stable and reproducible alternative to primary human keratinocytes.
Origin: Derived from normal human neonatal foreskin keratinocytes that were immortalized by the expression of the human telomerase reverse-transcriptase (hTERT) gene.
Differentiation: The cells retain the ability to differentiate and form a fully stratified, functional epidermis (known as human epidermal equivalents, or HEEs) in 3D organotypic cell culture models, closely mimicking normal human skin morphology and barrier properties.
Karyotype: The N/TERT-1 cell line is diploid with an additional chromosome 20 (47, XY, +20).
Usage: It is a valuable tool for studying epidermal biology, the pathogenesis of inflammatory skin diseases (such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis), toxicology, and for drug screening purposes.
