NTCC? SR (CRL-2262) - Human Lymphoma Cell Line

• Origin: This cell line is human and was originated in 1983 by Walter J. Urba and Dan L. Longo.

• Derivation: It's classified as a lymphoma cell line. However, its exact cellular origin is undetermined because it doesn't express markers unique to B, T, natural killer (NK), or monocyte lineages. This makes it a somewhat unique model for studying certain aspects of hematological malignancies where lineage is ambiguous.

• Growth Properties: It grows in suspension.

• Antigen Expression: It expresses Hle-1+, HLA DQ+, HLA DR+, and CD25+, but is negative for CD19, CD20, CD21, CD22 (B-cell markers), and T-cell receptor (TCR).

• Applications:

  • Research into lymphoma and other hematopoietic disorders.

  • Studies on cell proliferation and differentiation, especially given its ambiguous lineage.

  • Drug screening and development in the context of cancer.

  • Studies on cell signaling pathways, as exposure to protein kinase C activating phorbol esters does not induce growth inhibition in these cells.

  • It is often included in panels for anticancer drug screening, such as the NCI-60 cell line panel.
