Enterorhabdus is a genus of bacteria that belongs to the family Coriobacteriaceae. It was first described in 2009 and is currently classified under the phylum Actinobacteria.

Enterorhabdus species are Gram-positive, non-spore-forming, anaerobic or facultatively anaerobic bacteria. They are rod-shaped and have been isolated from the intestines of mammals, including humans and mice.

Enterorhabdus mucosicola is the type species of the genus and was first isolated from the inflamed ileal samples of TNFdeltaARE mice. This strain has been linked to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in mice.

Another species, Enterorhabdus caecimuris, was isolated from the cecum of mice with spontaneous colitis.

While Enterorhabdus bacteria are present in the human gut microbiome, their role in human health and disease is not yet fully understood. However, their association with inflammatory bowel disease in mice suggests that they may play a role in the development of this condition in humans.

Further research is needed to better understand the role of Enterorhabdus bacteria in human health and disease.
