pKJK5 is a 54,383 base pair (bp) IncP-1 plasmid that was originally isolated from a soil and manure environment. It is a multiple antibiotic resistance plasmid that contains a number of accessory elements, including a class 1 integron and a tetracycline resistance determinant.
Here are some characteristics of pKJK5:
- BackboneThe backbone genes of pKJK5 are structurally similar to other IncP-1 plasmids, but have a lower GC-content than the homologous genes in the archetype IncP-1β plasmid R751.
- Accessory elementspKJK5 has two accessory elements between the Tra1 and Tra2 regions, both bounded by inverted repeats and direct flanking repeats.
